WARRINGAH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
Posted on Monday, 25 April 2005
New figures released by the Commonwealth Government show that Warringah electorate has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Australia.
Warringah’s unemployment rate of 2.8 per cent is down from 3.6 per cent when the Howard Government took office in 1996.
Across Australia since March 1996, more than 1.6 million jobs have been created, while the national unemployment rate has fallen from 8.2 per cent to 5.1 per cent, the equal lowest level in over 28 years.
Despite these achievements, it is more important than ever that the Opposition supports the Government’s workplace relations and workforce participation reforms, which have the potential to improve labour market conditions even further.
