Towards Hope, Reward and Opportunity for All Australians

Today marks two years since the last election, and in around a year, at the expected end of the term, the Australian people can vote for a better way.
Over the past two years, my colleagues and I have travelled to all parts of Australia listening and talking with Australians about their lives, their families and their hopes for our country.
It is from these conversations that we have developed our plans to give our country renewed hope, build a stronger economy, and a more effective government to help Australians get ahead.
My message to the Australian people is that the Coalition stands ready with the plans that offer, hope, reward and opportunity to all Australians.
Since the last election, the Coalition has released over forty initiatives – plans that will strengthen our country and help Australians get ahead.
Our plans will build a stronger economy, ease cost of living pressures on families, improve infrastructure, help build stronger communities, secure our borders, and deliver a cleaner environment.
We will free up small business and households by scrapping the carbon tax. It will be the first priority of a new Coalition government and we have a plan to implement it immediately following the next election.
We will make our country even stronger for our children by ending the waste and cutting the debt.
We will make our economy more productive by cutting $1 billion a year in red tape to lend a helping hand to small business.
We will help families meet the challenges of balancing work and family – starting with a fair dinkum paid parental leave scheme and better access to affordable and flexible childcare.
We will free up our cities and help frustrated commuters by starting major new road projects in our big cities within 12 months.
We will give Australians with a disability a fair go by supporting a National Disability Insurance Scheme.
We will tend and nurture our natural environment as never before with a 15,000 strong Green Army.
We will once again be a country that is trusted by our neighbours through securing our borders and introducing proven policies that work.
We will see the values of Australia flourish in our region – with more Australian schools teaching foreign languages and more young people encouraged to study overseas.
Australians know we can achieve so much more as a nation, because the last Coalition government did it. Sixteen members of my Shadow Cabinet were ministers in the Howard Government. We delivered an era of reform and prosperity before, and we are determined to do it again.
We will restore hope, reward and opportunity, so that, once again, all Australians can face a bright future with confidence.
